Station 19 cast member death1/18/2024 ![]() ![]() They quickly cancelled the push-in and brought everyone inside the firehouse, where they began treating people for overheating and dehydration. However, the first few people to touch the engine burned their hands as the engine's metal had warmed significantly in the heat. He assigned Maya to speak at the public debut, with the reasoning that it would prove they "have girls here." When Maya gave a quick speech, he rushed her along and people started to surround the engine to push it in. Heat Wave Īs a historic heat wave swept through Seattle, Beckett prepared the team for the push-in for their new engine. The next morning, Beckett came to Emerald City Bar to celebrate the call with his team, but met Andy Herrera outside and ended up leaving with her instead. He also said anyone who'd been inside the house needed to go to the hospital to be cleared before going home. Station 23 arrived as backup and Beckett ordered a surround and drown to put out the fire. Ben and Maya soon passed out themselves, just as Sullivan was waking up. When Travis, Jack, and Sullivan stopped responding on the radio, Ben and Maya went to them and found them passed out on the floor. When they arrived, Beckett sent Travis, Jack, and Sullivan into the basement to get water on the fire while Ben and Maya went to cut a ventilation hole above it. Station 19 was called out to a house fire. ![]() The team was upset by the loss of their engine, but back at the station, Beckett called them to line up and told them it was a win because there was no loss of life and they should celebrate that. The other members of station 23 arrived soon after and Andy helped them put the fire out. They then watched helplessly as the engine went up in flames. Sullivan tried to get them to stop, but one of the jugglers dropped his torch, igniting the fuel and forcing Andy and Maya to jump to safety. As they worked to get it, a parade, which included fire jugglers, approached. After they had pulled Will out of the engine to safety, Beckett ordered Maya and Andy to climb the engine to retrieve the foam, which was in a compartment that was jammed shut. However, Beckett said they couldn't deal with that as the foam required to neutralize it was on the engine. When Andy came over to help them, she noticed that the engine was leaking fuel out into the road. The firefighters immediately stepped in to free Will, which required them to remove the windshield. Shortly after he took off, Will drove into an intersection, where the engine was t-boned by a delivery van and tipped on its side, blocking traffic on all sides. When Will, who was high on mushrooms, climbed into the fire engine and drove off in a misguided attempt to get his injured friend help, Maya pointed out that Beckett had failed to secure it when they arrived to avoid that. As they worked, he was condescending to Maya and made sexist remarks about her. About ten months after this change, station 19 worked the Phoenix Fair, handing out water and providing cooling shelter for anyone who needed it to avoid overheating. Despite this change in leadership, Maya reflexively tried to act as captain on multiple occasions, which irritated Beckett. 1.14 Car Accident and Decision to Get SoberĪfter Maya was relieved of her duties, Beckett was sent to station 19 to replace her.
